United States

In the United States, Inco has a presence in three communities. Inmetco, our wholly-owned subsidiary and a leading recycler of metal-bearing wastes in North America, is located in Ellwood City, near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Our subsidiary Novamet, which enhances Inco nickel powders by a variety of manufacturing processes, is located in Wyckoff, New Jersey. We additionally maintain a marketing and sales office in Saddle Brook, New Jersey.

Due to their relatively small size, both our Wyckoff and Saddle Brook operations have limited opportunities to engage with their respective communities. At Inmetco, however, community citizenship is a high priority.

Inmetco

“Our motto is ‘Building friendships through community awareness,'” says Mark Tomaszewski, General Manager of Finance, MIS and Administration at Inmetco. “Our policy is to be open and transparent about our business and to be strong supporters of our community.”

Supporting the community involves a tradition of volunteerism. According to Tomaszewski, many of the company’s 108 employees donate their time and talents to local community groups and charities. “This year, many of our people walked to support the American Cancer Society and March of Dimes,” he says. “Our people also serve as board members of a number of organizations including the Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce, Ellwood City Area United Fund, Ellwood City Area School District and Penn Ohio Regional Healthcare Alliance.”

Inmetco also supports Ellwood City, which has a population of 10,000, through charitable giving. In 2002 and 2003, we contributed $20,000 to scores of charities including the Ellwood City Library, Boy Scouts of America, Special Olympics, Salvation Army, Lawrence County Association for the Blind and Lawrence County School to Work Program. As well, we sponsored numerous youth sports teams and education-related activities.
