Indonesia
We believe that a strong and secure business depends upon a strong and secure relationship in the communities where we operate.
It was in 1968 that PT Inco signed a Contract of Work agreement with the Indonesian government that granted us mining and development rights covering specified areas in the provinces of South, Southeast and Central Sulawesi. Since then, we have gone on to develop one of the most successful operations of our business. We have done so mindful that we have a responsibility to help advance the economic and social development of the country and that our presence in Indonesia must be beneficial to its people.
Over the years, we have endeavoured to act upon this responsibility, preferably in ways that empower local individuals and groups to take charge of their own communities and futures.
It's a strategy, we believe, that promotes sustainable prosperity.
