Contributing to Society
Inco remains the largest employer in Sudbury, a community of 170,000 people. We provided employment to some 4,200 people, while providing pensions for more than 10,000 retirees in 2004.
Inco provides significant economic stimulus to Sudbury's economy, spending more than $290 million (Cdn. $380 million) in wages (excluding benefits) and $190 million (Cdn. $250 million) in pensions. We additionally spent another $250 million (Cdn. $325 million) on local supplies and services, $150 million (Cdn. $195 million) on capital spending, and $12 million (Cdn. $15 million) on local taxes.
