We have adopted an Integrated Management System for all our environmental, health and safety issues throughout Vale Inco. The Integrated Management System is compatible with the requirements of both ISO 14001 and OHS 18001. All Vale Inco's operations are expected to be in full compliance with the requirements of the management system and are working towards this end.
The following Vale Inco operations and joint ventures are currently ISO 14001 certified:
- Clydach Refinery. Clydach, Swansea, Wales
- Acton Refinery, London, England
- Inco TNC Limited, Matsuzaka, Japan
- Jinco Nonferrous Metals Co. Ltd., Kunshan, Peoples Republic of China
- Taiwan Nickel Refining Corporation, Kaohsiung, Taiwan
Environmental, Health and Safety Audit Program
Our audit program is a key component of our environment, health and safety management program, providing an assurance to management and Vale Inco's Board of Directors that effective systems are in place to manage the environment, health and safety risks associated with our operations. It verifies compliance with laws and regulations, conformance with corporate guidelines, operational policies, procedures and good management practices. Our audit program assists our operations to identify opportunities to improve management systems and establish priorities for continuous improvement.
